Can you imagine Waupaca County having 83 rural one-room schoolhouses? Do you remember when each township in the county had a Dance Hall Inspector? A new house cost $5,600 and gas cost 15 cents per gallon.
That was how the landscape of Waupaca looked back in 1946. Since those days, Faulks Bros. Construction has been literally shaping Waupaca County, central Wisconsin, and the Fox Valley with its now highly-diversified construction and materials supply businesses.
Faulks Bros. started as a two-man undertaking. Co-founders Syd and Oliver Faulks began delivering sand and gravel to customers around the Waupaca area with a couple shovels and an old Army truck. Today the third generation of Faulks is helping the family-owned company move ahead with its new ventures.
Many of Faulks Bros. services still focus on assisting residents with their land improvement needs. Customers can come to Faulks Bros.’ yard to pick up decorative stone, topsoil, or even a bucket of sand, to use for projects around their houses. For larger projects, their experienced employees will bring equipment to your jobsite for basements, driveways, grading, pond digging, demolition, and other site preparation work.
In addition to its local services, Faulks Bros. also owns divisions that operate a little further from home. The company’s SportZmix Solutions division has done golf course construction in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, Mexico, and most states in the U.S. The Waupaca Sand & Solutions division sells specialty sands and maintenance materials to golf courses and athletic fields in Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas, and other states.
To thank the communities it has served for over so many years, Faulks Bros. makes service a priority. The company donated the excavating for the construction of Waupaca’s Swan Park. After the Lake Delton flooding, Faulks Bros. contributed Sur-Hop Infield Mix to restore two baseball fields washed away by the water.
On behalf of all its employees, owners Randy and Bob Faulks thank the community for the opportunity to be of service in the past and, hopefully, in the future.
“Leave the woodpile higher than you found it.”
—Syd Faulks, Company Co-Founder
